Luke 21:26,27

"Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth. And then shall they see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory."

Men will fear things coming upon the earth.

We will see Jesus when He comes.

2 Timothy 3:1-5

"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. Men shall be lovers of their own selves... without natural affection, … lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God ...having a form of godliness"

The conditions of men's hearts during the last days.

Luke 17:26,27

"As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man."

When Jesus comes the earth will be like the days of Noah

Genesis 6:5

"And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."

During Noah's day men were very wicked.

Luke 17:28-30

"Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot: they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed."

During the days just before Jesus comes, men will still be doing ordinary things.

Jude 7

Even as Sodom and Gomorrah...giving themselves over to fornication and going after strange flesh are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire."

During the days just before Jesus comes men will be obsessed with sex outside of marriage.

2 Peter 3:3,4

There shall come scoffers in the last days saying "Where is the promise of His coming?" ..."All things continue as they were from the beginning...."

Scoffers in last days mocking at Christ's coming again

2 Timothy 3:13

"But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse deceiving and being deceived."

The world will become more and more wicked, and people will be deceived

Revelation 3:14-18

…"Thou art neither hot nor cold."

…"Thou sayest I am rich …and in need of nothing"

..."Knowest not that thou art …poor and blind and naked."

Generally, people will be “lukewarm" or apathetic, neither hot or cold in the churches

James 5:1-8

..."Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. …Your gold and silver …shall be a witness against you.

...The coming of the Lord draweth nigh."

Great riches of men gained by fraud

John 14:1-3

..."I go to prepare a place for you."

..."I will come again and receive you unto myself that where I am ye may be also."

The promise of Jesus to come again for us

Luke 24:51

"And it came to pass while He blessed them, He was parted from them and carried up into heaven."

Jesus went to heaven after His resurrection

Acts 1:9-12

...While they beheld He was taken up and a cloud received him...ye men of Galilee...this same Jesus which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven."

"Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet...."

The manner that Jesus went to heaven as observed by the disciples

"...They shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

All will see Jesus come

Matthew 24:27

"For as the lightning cometh out of the East and shineth even unto the West, so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be."

Manner or way that Jesus will come. (Visible as the lightning)

Revelation 6:14-17

"...Every mountain and island were moved out of their places,"

“...the kings of the earth....the great men, the rich...the mighty... hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains and said...fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb for the Great Day of His wrath is come and who shall be able to stand?"

2 Thessalonians 1:7-10

"…The Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God …who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord … when He shall come to be glorified in His saints…"

The manner of Jesus coming and what happens to the wicked and God's people at his coming

2 Thessalonians 2:8

"...Then shall that wicked be revealed whom the Lord shall consume ...and destroy with the brightness of His coming."

When Jesus comes the wicked (lawless one) will be destroyed with the brightness

1 Thessalonians 4:16,17

"...The Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the Archangel, and with the trump of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord."

The manner of Jesus coming and how we meet Him

1 Corinthians 15:22,23

"...As in Adam all die even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the first fruits; afterward they that are Christ's at His coming."

At the coming of Christ the righteous dead will receive life again

1 Corinthians 15:51-54

"Behold, I show you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. …This mortal must put on immortality."

At the trump of God, the righteous will be given immortality

Matthew 25:13

"Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of Man cometh."

Be ready always for Jesus to come

Matthew 24:44

"Therefore be ye also ready for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man cometh."

Jesus will come unexpectedly

I Thessalonians 5:1-6

"For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they say peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them..

But ye brethren are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief....Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober."

Jesus will come as a thief, unexpectedly to the wicked but His coming will not be a surprise to those who are watching for Him.

2 Peter 3:10,12

"But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."

When Jesus comes as a thief there will be a loud noise and great heat which will burn the earth and the heavens. (It will not be an invisible coming)

Isaiah 24:1-6

"Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof. And it shall be as with the people, so with the priest, as with the servant, so with his master...The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled; for the Lord hath spoken this word...The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof: because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth...Therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.."

The condition of the earth and the condition of its inhabitants after Jesus has come!

Matthew 24:37-41

"But as the Days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, …And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left…"

As the flood came and "took" the wicked away, so when Jesus comes the wicked will be "taken" in death again.

I Thessalonians 4:16,17

"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."

The righteous will "remain" or be left alive when Jesus comes while the wicked will be slain.

Luke 17:29, 30, 34-37

"But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed …

I tell you, in that night there shall be two in one bed; the one shall be taken and the other left. …Two shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. And they answered and said unto him, where Lord? And He said unto them, Wheresoever the body is thither will the eagles be gathered together."

The destruction of the wicked when Jesus comes will be like the destruction of Sodom: by fire from heaven.

The body of the one taken in death will be where the eagles are.

Matthew 24: 27, 28

"For as the lightening cometh out of the east and shineth even to the West so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be.

For wheresoever the carcass is, there will the eagles be gathered together."

The eagles will gather where the carcasses of the wicked are.

Revelation 19:11, 16-18

"And I saw heaven opened and behold a white horse and He that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war... And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God: that ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men..."

The wicked will be food for the birds (eagles).

Revelation 20:1-3

"And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, and cast him into the bottomless pit and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season."

The Devil will not be able to deceive anyone for a long time (1,000 years)

Revelation 20: 4,6,5

"And I saw thrones, and they that sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: And I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the Beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection."

During the 1,000 years the righteous will be living and reigning with Christ

(in heaven because the earth will be desolate.)

During the 1,000 years the wicked will all be dead!

Revelation 20: 7,8

"And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, and shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea."

After the 1,000 years the wicked are resurrected and Satan gathers them for battle.

Zechariah 14:1-5,9

"Behold the day of the Lord cometh...For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle. ...Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations. ...And His feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives ...and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley ...and the Lord my God shall come, and all the saints with thee ...And the Lord shall be king over all the earth."

After the 1,000 years Jesus returns to the earth for the 3rd time and His feet touch the mount of Olives.

The righteous who have been in heaven return to earth with Him.

Revelation 21:2,10

"And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

And He carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the new Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God."

The holy city, new Jerusalem comes down out of heaven and comes to rest on earth where the mount of Olives was before the feet of Jesus split it.

Revelation 20:7-9

"And when the thousand years are expired, Satan … shall go out to deceive the nations....to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them."

Satan and all the wicked surround the holy city and God destroys them with fire from heaven.

Nahum 1:9,10

"What do ye imagine against the Lord? He will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time. For while they be folden together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry."

God will make a complete end of the wicked.

PROPHETIC SCRIPTURE

Malachi 4:1-3

"For behold, the day cometh that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this saith the Lord of hosts."

The wicked will be burned up completely leaving only ashes!

Isaiah 47:14

"Behold, they shall be as stubble: the fire shall burn them: they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it."

After the fire has burned up the wicked it will go out!
